Types of Modalities
Deep Tissue
The term deep tissue massage refers to manipulating deeper tissue structures
of muscle and fascia to help loosen bonds between connective tissues and
lengthen shortened muscles. Structural integration, physiological release
and polarity are modalities that aid in restoring tissue to homeostasis.
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT)
Neuromuscular dysfunctions are present in soft tissue as contractures,
hypersensitive areas and tissue restrictions. NMT identifies these
abnormalities by manipulating the tissue through skin rolling, trigger
points, stretching and postural balancing.
Postural Balancing
Posture refers to the relationship and alignment of body parts to one
another. How one carries oneself reflects through their posture. The body
can learn to maintain correct and healthy posture through exercises and
balancing techniques.
Pregnancy Massage
Due to reflex points in hands and feet, the massage is general but specific
so homeostasis is not upset. A side-lying position is usually most
comfortable depending on the trimester. Swedish massage will help calm and
relax you and your baby. Our beautifying composition can be applied to the
belly to help reduce stretch marks.
Reflexology
30 minutes - $40
Reflexology is the art and science of superimposing the body on the hands
and feet. It's based on the principal that reflex points correlate with
organs and structures in the body. Treatment includes a foot bath
application of our foot relief formula.
Sports Massage
Sports massage is designed to help prepare an athlete for an upcoming event
by relieving tension, cramps, spasms and toxin levels through variations of
Swedish and sports specific modalities. The goal is to help reduce the
factors that reduce performance potential.
Stretch Integration
Stretching aids in overcoming limitations of movement by elongating soft
tissue with the use of the breath. Flexibility, tone, increased range of
motion and joint mobility all result from passive, active and isometric
stretching.
Swedish
The term most related to massage which includes a more relaxed and general
approach using long light strokes, kneading, gliding, petrissage and
movement of joints.
